Funds disbursement sub-committee

 

This subcommittee manages the Bird Committee funds.

A number of funds is designated to research and monitoring of vulnerable bird species and their habitats through the Department of Ornithology.

Other funds are open to applications:

 

Records sub-committee

 

Collects and processes bird records in cooperation with the Dept. of Ornithology, NMK

Updates the Kenyan Bird Atlas and database

Facilitates the East African Rarities Committee (Note that the Rarities Committee is a part of the Bird Committee, not something separate!)

Publications Sub-committee

 

· Producing the magazine Kenya Birds and the scientific journal Scopus.
· Producing checklists for different areas in the region. 

· Developing the EA bird checklist.


 

Ringing Scheme of East Africa

 

Supports ringing of birds and training in bird ringing through the Nairobi Ringing Group. Birds are ringed at regular sessions at the museum grounds and the Nairobi Arboretum and during excursions e.g. to Ngulia, Tsavo West.
