CHAIRMAN
Dr. Ian Gordon
Dr. Gordon first came to Africa to work as a University lecturer in 1971. Since then he has taught at five universities in Ghana, Zimbabwe and Kenya. In 1993 he left the University teaching profession and moved to Kilifi to start an EANHS community-based butterfly-farming project (Kipepeo) at Arabuko-Sokoke Forest. In 1998, Ian left Kipepeo to become Co-ordinator of the EU-funded Birdlife International Arabuko-Sokoke Forest Conservation and Management Project, which ended in March 2002. He currently works as the Head of the Environmental Health Division at the International Center of Insect Physiology and Ecology (ICIPE).

Dr. Helida Oyieke
Dr. Oyieke has a PhD. in Marine Botany. She is currently serving National Museums of Kenya as the Director for Research and Collections. Dr. Oyieke has a keen interest in research and environmental conservation and is a strong supporter of Nature Kenya Conservation Programmes and has served in several project implementation committees of Nature Kenya

Mr. Mike Davidson
Mike Davidson has been a banker for 44 years, firstly with Barclays for 37 years in several countries including UK, Zambia, Botswana, Gibraltar and latterly Kenya. After retirement he took over as Managing Director of NIC Bank for 7years.He currently has a consultancy business in banking and is a Director of several companies. He has always been interested in wildlife and is a keen birder. He is also a keen golfer and is currently vice captain of Karen golf section. He is also a trustee of Ngong Forest Sanctuary Trust

Mrs Fleur Ng’weno
Mrs. Ng’weno is a naturalist, writer and editor. She holds a BSc in Conservation, and has been involved in environmental issues in Kenya for forty-five years. She has been Honorary Secretary and Vice-Chairperson of the EANHS and has led the Wednesday morning bird walk for the Society since 1971. Mrs. Ng’weno was editor of Rainbow Children’s magazine and co-editor of Kenya’s 1994 National Environment Action Plan, is co-author of Learning for Sustainable Living in Kenya, and wrote Community Guide to Forest Conservation and several children’s books

Dr. Deborah Nightingale
Dr. Nightingale was involved in fieldwork on Stumptail Macaques in Mexico before coming to Kenya in 1976 to do a three-year study on baboons at Gilgil. She was awarded a Ph.D. in Anthropology from ULCA in 1982, and has been living in Kenya since then, on a farm in Naivasha and now in Nairobi. In 1996, Dr. Nightingale was awarded a MSc. in Environmental Management from the External Programme of the University of London.

Mrs. Lorna Depew
Mrs. Lorna Depew holds an MSc. in Zoology and has taught at degree level for 20 years with an emphasis on ecology and ornithology. She previously held the post of Honorary Secretary of the Society, and has been an Editor of the Journal of East African Natural History Society for over the past nine years and has been on the Editorial Committee for over 13 years. She was previously co-editor and then Editor of the Bulletin. She is currently the Honorary Journal Editor for the Society.

Dr. Evans M. Mwangi
Dr. Mwangi currently teaches ecology and conservation biology at the University of Nairobi. He is also an environment and natural resources expert with wide national and regional consulting experience. His past and ongoing work includes service to government agencies, academic institutions, local and international non-governmental organizations.

Mrs. Irene Karani Njumbi
Mrs. Njumbi holds an M.Phil in Wildlife Management from Moi University. She has been a Lecturer at Moi University and Daystar University teaching various disciplines of ecology and biology and has worked with the Wildlife Clubs of Kenya as the Programme Officer. She has also worked as a Pastoralist Project Manager in ITDG-EA (Intermediate Technology Development Group/ Practical Action) and at Acacia Consultants as the Rural Development Consultant.She is currently working at Kesarine and Associates as a Senior Consultant.

Dr. Philip Muruthi
Dr. Muruthi has a Ph.D. in Ecology and Evolutionary Biology from the Princeton University. He has over 10 year’s expertise in wildlife research and management. His research interests are in animal ecology especially the ecology of disturbed populations, and the impact of humans on wildlife populations, their feeding, nutrition, parental care, demography and conservation biology. Currently, he is the Chief Scientist for the African Wildlife Foundation (AWF).

Mr. Milton Lore
Mr. Milton Lore is presently the Managing Director of Bridgeworks Africa Limited, a bioscience technology transfer and venture capital investment company that he co-founded in 2004. He previously worked within university research commercialization as well as pharmaceutical industry in East Africa and the United Kingdom over a 10-year period.Milton holds postgraduate qualifications in intellectual property law and management from Queen Mary, University of London, in addition, to a BSc(Hons) degree in Biochemistry and Chemistry from the University of Nairobi. He is keenly interested in community development and environmental conservation.

Dr. Siro Masinde
Siro is currently the Regional Coordinator for Africa for JSTOR, a not-for-profit organization that is committed to preserving and expanding access to scholarly materials as broadly as possible, and to enabling new forms of research, scholarship and teaching. He holds a Bed (Sc) and MSc from Kenyatta University and a DSc in taxonomy and systematic botany from the University of Muenster, Germany. Siro has been a Research Scientist at the National Museums of Kenya since 1992 and also served as the head of the East African Herbarium including the Nairobi Botanic Garden. Siro has been involved in the development and/or implementation of several national and international initiatives and projects including the following: Biodiversity Monitoring Transect Analysis in Africa, African Plants Initiative, African Pollinators Initiative, Desert Margins Programme, and JRS Foundation / Botanic Gardens Conservation International East African biodiversity informatics project. He is active in his professional endeavors through several publications and presentations. He maintains a number of professional affiliations including among others, International Association of Plant Taxonomists, International Asclepiad Society, Association for the Taxonomic Study of the Flora of Tropical Africa, and Society for Conservation Biology. Siro has been a member of the EANHS since 1991 and has previously served as an Executive Committee Member and Trustee of the Society.

Dr. Theresa Aloo
Dr. Aloo holds a PhD from the University of British Columbia, Canada. She has worked for more than ten years with the Kenya Forest Department as an Assistant Conservator of Forests in the research conservancy. For several years she also taught Forest Protection, Community Conservation and Agro Forestry at Egerton University. Her experience includes working with the United Nations’ FAO as a Technical Advisor in Tanzania. Dr. Aloo is currently a Senior Lecturer in the Department of Environmental Science at Kenyatta University, and is interested in Agro Forestry, Sustainable Environmental Development, Equity and Biodiversity Conservation.

Ms. Wakini Ndegwa
Ms. Wakini Ndegwa Holds BA (Hons) Geography from Oxford University. She has worked in UNEP in the Energy Department, Commercial Bank of Africa, The African Mecantile Banking Company Limited and Mercantile Finance Ltd and National Industrial Credit Bank Limited. Currently she is the Director of Kahuho Holdings Limited, a private family investment company with interests in the financial and property sectors. She has interest in the preservation of natural resources.
